B&D Roy Smeck Stage Model No 4 custom Tenor (1927)

4,250.00

This highly unusual banjo is sure to turn some heads.  There are two things stand out  making this a unique instrument.  Instead of the gold sparkle celluloid Roy Smeck Stage Models normally used, this banjo has its original pearl-style celluloid.  The other is that the resonator carving and painting are more elaborate than a typical No 4.  This resonator closely matches several No 7 Bacons we've seen.  The neck was recently refinished and inlay engravings touched up.  The recent fret job makes banjo a joy to play and the perforated tone ring combined with the dense neck wood used make this banjo really "bark".  The original gold plating is worn in most areas but the engravings are in very good shape.  The original planet tuners turn smoothly and retain their original pearl buttons.  Comes with OHSC in good shape.
